With a totally Spanish Capital was created in 1999 the company 2Estaleiros do Norte Lda » dedicated to the construction of semi - rigid inflatables and rigid boats with the commercial brand registered as ASTEC. The location of the factory was decided to be in the industrial area of Monção (North Portugal) 30 minutes away of the Vigo City in Spain. The industrial facilities implemented in a total land of 12.000 m2 have a total area built of 2.600 m2. Those facilities are divided in several areas such as industrial area for the construction of the boats, offices and services and also be provides of a special tank of 20x10 mts in order to make the stability, pushing, fall and engine tests.
Actually the possibility to grow up with this facilities is happening and the idea  is to built two more industrial areas with 2.600 m2 each, dedicated to the construction of the ASTEC boats.
During the period 1999/2006, the ASTEC brand had only produced 4 small models of rigid boats. In October 2006, ASTEC begins the production of the semi rigid inflatable with the length of 2,15mts up to 17 mts available in two versions, the sport and the professional one. Also during 2010 ASTEC increases its rigid range with 4 new models: 5,40 mts; 6,10 mts; 7,10 mts and 8,40 mts  available in 3 versions: Open, Sport and Cabin. These rigid boats can reach under special order, 14 mts length.
Nowadays ASTEC is considered as one of the most capable builders and it is seen as one of the biggest future projection company in the nautical area. With a team of 35 people, a distribution and service network in the Spanish, Portuguese and French market the company is now beginning its introduction in the rest of Europe in another continents.
The ASTEC boats are manufactured with a highly industrialised process, guaranteeing a greater reliability with a constant level of quality. Through design, planning and development with the most advanced techniques of CAD/CAM. The production of the boats is automated and robotised in the main production stages, having advanced environmental controls for the manufacturing of GRP, where applied high technology eliminates vapours and by-products.
The tubes manufacturing is made under the TERMOFUSION process. This process combines fusion with calendaring at high pressures and makes the assembly of the several parts of the tube with a system of double internal/external tapes welds stronger than the material itself.
The GRP process are manufactured with a lamination process of closed moulds under RTM technology. This technology derived from the aeronautical industry and allows achieving an excellent strength/weight ratio as well as a homogeneous quality.

The quality management system of ASTEC has been certified ISO 9001:2000 which applies to: Design, manufacture and repair management for semi-rigid inflatable boats.
